Getting Started

1

Create an Account

Click "Register" on the login screen, choose a username of 2–13 letters, numbers, or underscores, and set a strong password. Your account is ready immediately.

2

Join the Public Chat

After login you land in the Public Chat automatically. Say hello — it is shared with all online users.

3

Start a Private DM

Tap the ☰ menu icon (mobile) or find the sidebar, then press "+ New DM" and select the person you want to message.

4

Enable Notifications

When prompted, allow notifications. ZyraLink will alert you to new DMs even when the tab is in the background — but never spams you with public chat pings.

5

Personalize your space

Open your profile and settings to use stickers, profile media, earned cosmetics, presence controls, and account-recovery options as your account grows.

Messaging & DMs

Type in the message box at the bottom and press Enter or tap the send button. On desktop, Shift+Enter creates a new line without sending.
On mobile, swipe the message left or right. On desktop, hover over a message and click the reply icon. A reply bar appears above the input field. Press Cancel to clear it.
Hold (long-press) any message for about 1 second. The message enters selection mode, with a reaction strip anchored above it and message actions in the top bar. Tap additional messages to select several and use the bulk copy, delete, or Delete for me actions. Tap an emoji to add your reaction; to remove it, tap the same emoji chip below the message. Reactions are visible to everyone in real time.
Yes. The author can edit their own text messages for up to 15 minutes while a DM is unseen, or 10 minutes after it has been seen. Public messages use the 15-minute window. Edited text is re-encrypted before storage and is marked as edited for everyone. The author can delete an unread DM within 2 days, or a read DM within 1 day. Hold a message and tap additional messages to use the WhatsApp-style bulk action bar. Delete for me hides any selected message — including your own message or someone else’s message — only on your side; the encrypted row and everyone else’s copy remain unchanged. Deletions for everyone show a tombstone to keep conversation context. Admins can delete messages at any time and permanently remove both messages and tombstones.
You can hide a DM conversation from your sidebar by long-pressing the channel in the sidebar. The conversation remains visible to the other person.
Scroll up in any channel. Older messages load automatically as you near the top — no page refresh needed.
A single grey tick (✓) means your message was sent to the server. Double purple ticks (✓✓) mean the recipient has opened and seen the message.

More ways to shape the experience

Open your profile and use the available profile media, frames, badges, bubble styles, and other earned cosmetics. Some options unlock through the progression system.
Use the sticker picker to send image-first stickers and save favorites. Long-press a message to add or remove an emoji reaction without interrupting the conversation.
Yes. Privacy settings let you control online visibility, last-seen information, and read receipts independently. These are practical account controls, not end-to-end encryption.
Use Privacy settings to configure recovery details and an unlock code before you need them. The Safety Centre explains the account-lock, session invalidation, and recovery boundaries.

Notifications

Make sure you allowed notifications when prompted after login. Check your browser and device notification settings. ZyraLink only sends notifications for private DMs — never for public chat.
No. ZyraLink enforces a minimum 60-second gap between push notifications from the same sender. If someone sends you many messages quickly, you will get at most one notification per minute from them.
Yes. Go to your browser's site settings and revoke the notification permission for ZyraLink. You can also disable them in your operating system's notification centre.
Yes — on Android Chrome and iOS Safari 16.4+ (added to your home screen as a PWA). Grant notification permission when prompted for the best experience.

Account & Security

ZyraLink uses a 7-day sliding session. Each time you visit, the timer resets. As long as you return within 7 days, you will never need to log in again on the same device.
Password changes are currently managed by an administrator. Contact support if you need to update your credentials.
A mute prevents you from sending messages for a specified duration but you can still read. A ban removes access entirely. Contact support if you believe either action was a mistake.
Yes. Contact support and your account and all associated data will be permanently removed. This action is irreversible.

Account Control & Recovery

A recovery token is a secret phrase you set in Settings → Privacy → Account Recovery & Remote Control. If you think your account is compromised, you visit /control, enter your username and this token, and your account is instantly locked — all active sessions are terminated. The token is one-time use and is consumed the moment it's used.
The unlock code is a separate secret phrase you also set in Settings → Privacy. After a lockdown, visit /unlock, enter your username and unlock code, and your account is restored without needing to contact support. Like the recovery token, it is one-time use.
  1. Open Settings (click your name in the sidebar)
  2. Go to the Privacy tab
  3. Scroll to Account Recovery & Remote Control
  4. Click Set Token, choose a strong recovery token, confirm your password, and save
  5. Click Set Code, choose a strong unlock code (different from the token), confirm your password, and save
  6. Store both values somewhere safe — a password manager is ideal
Go to /control from any browser (you do not need to be logged in). Enter your username and recovery token. If they match, your account is immediately locked and all active WebSocket and HTTP sessions are terminated. You'll need your unlock code to sign in again.
Go to /unlock, enter your username and unlock code. If they match, your account is unlocked and you can sign in normally. After signing in, immediately set a new recovery token and unlock code in Settings → Privacy for future use.
If your account is locked and you no longer have your unlock code, contact support — we can verify your identity through other means and restore access manually. This is why we strongly recommend keeping your codes in a password manager.
1

Go to Settings → Privacy

Click your username at the bottom of the sidebar, then select the Privacy tab. Scroll to "Account Recovery & Remote Control".

2

Set your Recovery Token

Click "Set Token", enter a strong phrase (min 8 characters), confirm your password, and save. This is what you'll use at /control to lock your account.

3

Set your Unlock Code

Click "Set Code", enter a different strong phrase, confirm your password, and save. This is what you'll use at /unlock to restore access.

4

Store both somewhere safe

A password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, etc.) is ideal. Both codes are consumed on use — set new ones after each use.
